Mauro Perucchetti

About

Pop aesthetics, social comment and a classical sense of beauty.

Italian-born and based in London, Mauro Perucchetti combines Conceptual, Minimalist and Pop Art traditions. His work is always a sensorial experience — stimulating to the eyes and to the sense of touch.

“A mixture of Minimalism and Pop, fused together with an elegance and an ironic wit that seem typical of a certain kind of Italian sensibility.”

The Artist

Mauro Perucchetti working in his studio

A pioneer in the use of resin, Mauro Perucchetti is at ease with an endless variety of mediums, embracing techniques from classical methods to totally experimental ones. His techniques embody a quest for perfection combined with urban narrative.

His art takes a critical yet light-hearted approach, relying on symbols to create meaning. Chief among them is the Jelly Baby — a little sweet in rudimentary human form that, for him, symbolises the disposability of contemporary consumer society.

A former actor, Perucchetti also ran a design and architecture practice, which he sold — along with his home — so that he could dedicate himself entirely to art.

His sculptures have been installed at London’s Marble Arch, beside the Louvre in Paris, in West Hollywood next to MOCA and the Pacific Design Center, and at the World Expo in Milan. Above all, he is an artist who is connected: he sees the bigger picture and has his finger firmly on the pulse of contemporary society.
